It has been a minute since I’ve been back here. Inspiration came and went and I had no time to write it all down. That’s how life has been since. Amidst all that we do sometimes we have so much going on that we forget we have other commitments. We forget to look after our friends, check on our family and even spend time with ourselves and before we know it, life has happened to all. Your friend lost a friend and you were not there to comfort them, a family member was in a situation that you could’ve helped out in and your face has gained a few lines with the addition of a few pounds. India.Arie said it…slow down baby you’re going too fast.
Yesterday was the first time I realised that I needed to slow down and not only spend time with myself but spend time with God. In all my plans I had forgotten about Him. It became a routine not to acknowledge that He was my maker and that He brought forth my blessings. So I picked up my notebook, my bible and found the best place where I could find peace and quiet and just be alone with God…the balcony. You might imagine a spacious wooden balcony with a wonderful view of the beach where I could see the sunset but hold that thought. My balcony is small and full of the abandoned objects that were no longer worthy of being stored inside the flat alongside the washing line which was full of semi-damp clothes and two step ladders. The view…well it’s not quite the beach but I was forced to look at a tree which goes through all seasons and still remains and at that late hour, my neighbour decided to entertain himself with females in the nude. Yup, that was the most peaceful place in the whole flat. As I manoeuvred my head in the other direction I could hear nothing but the breeze and I just sat there for a long time feeling so at peace. Just what I needed.
We all need to take time out and just relax. Life is stressful but when you listen to God, everything is put into perspective again. Take time to call a person you haven’t spoken to for a long time, spoil yourself just a bit and have a day where it’s all about you and affordable retail therapy 😉
